Flowers by Nobuyoshi Araki

Born in 1940, Nobuyoshi Araki is arguably Japan’s greatest living photographer, and certainly its most controversial. His inexhaustible creative energy is attested to by the more than 300 books he has published in the last four decades, while his work, which often challenges social taboos surrounding sex and death, has drawn critical attention both at home and abroad.
Flowers by Nobuyoshi Araki, the naked beauty, the hint of sexuality, so tender so unprotected.

31 Russian websites that can inspire you

Today I would like to present you a collection of 31 Russian websites that can inspire you. For a long time during 1990s the countries of the former USSR were excluded from WWW world and it’s only lately that a separate community has been formed named Runet. All the designs have their special touch. The distinctive feature of every Russian design is its uniqueness. There are no standards, no precise definition of the styles and what’s most interesting- there are not many websites yet, so for every project there’s place for creativity.

The History of Web Design

According to some resources the first website (or at least something that can be considered a website) was published back in August 1991. That seems to have been so long ago but yet compared to other human inventions the Internet is still a baby. Let’s shortly review the history of website design science and technics.

I guess all of us would agree that we can’t speak of design at the very early stages of development back in 1990s. The websites were built using very basic HTML tags that a nowadays developer would definitely consider as something that can’t be used to build a website.

Taking into account that the hypertext concept was invented in the 1960’s by Ted Nelson ( wow!!!) I wonder why it took so long for people to make some use of it? In the 1980’s (did anyone know about it?) something similar to Internet in its present understanding was “created” in Europe by Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau and then pretty rapidly the mark up language spread around the world. In the 1990s the NCSA team developed the Mosaic and Netscape browsers and so here we are.

The wind of change

Hey Everyone! Nice to meet you guys and gals of DesignFloat community:)

Just a short introduction of myself, I’m Anastasia and I’ll be..hmm…well let’s call it the editor of this blog. I wonder what I have to do to keep you healthy, wealthy and happy? Any ideas might be of a great help so if anyone would like to give me some guidance, you are more than welcome!

I’ve been involved in website development business for about 7 years now and yet I have to tell that I don’t know even 30% of what’s going on in this mad world of design. New talents and companies come on arena every other day with fresh ideas, new achievements, unique approach and their own special feeling of what’s called design. Apart from personal perception of designer and uniqueness of his work, we need to make people love our little online design creatures and thus we need to take into account what majority thinks, feels, finds interesting, funny and takes for unique. In this blog we’ll try to keep track of newly coming design events, review and discuss works of art, speak about different design styles and invent new ones. We’ll be posting interviews with some well known personalities of this design world as well as simply have fun. Cheers and see you soon!

Ooops …I’m almost forgot, I’m gonna be the God at DesignFloat. No sacrifice needed, just NO SPAM please.

Sincerely Yours,

Anastasia
