Winter HDR Photos – Wonderland of Severe Frosts

Crisp and clear winter landscapes are really charming, especially when they are presented in HDR photos. These works exhibit all the wonders of this severe season in the mind-bending way and you can’t help admiring the deepness of the cold blue sky, dazzling snow all over the earth, magnetizing gleams of sun all around. Sometimes it seems that these landscapes are surreal and don’t share any similarities with the reality, but it is quite wrong impression. HDR technique only helps to present the winter beauties in the expressive way and accentuate its elements, but it doesn’t create anything unreal. The main characteristic features of all these winter HDR photos are the expressiveness and charming mood. You can see everything in your own eyes while browsing this post and you are welcome to do it just now!

Jesus Christ, will HDR PLEASE just go away?

  • http://dpshots.com/ Uzair

All good things stay @bob ;)

  • petar

    Bob, why?

  • bob

Petar, every third Stumble I hit is another HDR gallery/tutorial. Nothing new is being done with it, and it’s quickly losing its interesting edge. It’s the same with selective color. They’re gimmicky techniques that don’t necessarily improve a photograph. Most of the time, they make it worse.

As a colleague of mine once said, “We wouldn’t even have HDR if people knew how to properly expose a photo.”

  • Hermitbiker

    …. ya-da-ya-da-yada…. great photographs !!

  • bob

The article says HDR “doesn’t create anything unreal,” and I’d argue it does. The colors aren’t the same, the lighting doesn’t appear as it did in person.

Have you ever seen an HDR photo and thought to yourself, “Yeah, that’s EXACTLY how that moment appeared to me!” I’d very much doubt it, unless you were using some sort of psychedelics at the time.

I just haven’t seen anything new done with HDR for years, and it’s getting quite tiresome.

  • Cliff

Oh, bob… relax. How often do you see a black and white photo and think to yourself, “Yeah, that’s EXACTLY how that moment appeared to me…”? Not very often, I’ll bet. Yet I almost never see anyone screeching “Jesus Christ, will black and white photography please just go away!!1!” on comments.

Photography is a subjective game. If you don’t like a specific picture or style, keep looking.

    Cheers!
